A Bear, a Boy, and a Memory That Matters

How a forgotten Hogan Bear became a meaningful connection to a beloved grandfather

At Hogan, we’ve always believed our work is about more than transportation — it’s about people, family, and the moments that connect us. We recently received a touching message from someone that reminded us just how meaningful even the smallest gestures can be.

Four years ago, Danny entered our Hogan holiday drawing contest and won. Along with a $50 gift card, he received one of our special Hogan Bears. What made this win extra special was that Danny’s grandfather, Ron, had been a driver for Hogan and encouraged Danny to enter the contest. They both shared a love for drawing, and his grandfather was thrilled when Danny won.

Sadly, the very next day after the contest announcement, Ron passed away unexpectedly. The bear became a symbol of that memory, a connection to his “Poppy,” and a cherished reminder of the bond they shared.

Recently, during a move, Danny’s Hogan Bear was accidentally lost! Thankfully, a little birdie let us know what happened. Was it even possible that after all this time, there may be just one more bear somewhere, ready and waiting to be Danny’s bear?

Yes!

Tucked away in the back of our storage warehouse was one last Hogan Bear. We carefully packaged it up and sent it to Danny. The photo we received of him holding the bear again reminded all of us why we do what we do.

This wasn’t just about replacing a stuffed bear. It was about honoring a grandfather’s legacy, rekindling a memory, and bringing joy to a boy who loved his Poppy very much.

From all of us at Hogan — thank you for sharing your story with us. It meant the world.
